Description : Scene of First Land Battle of Civil War.
Serve North and South passage of troops and supplies across mountians to Virginia
Erected across the Tyart River.
No nails or bolts were used in its construction.
It was put together entirely with wooden pegs.
In recent years steel griders and a concrete floor replaced the old wooden griders and floor boards and an outside walkway has been added; otherwise the apperance of the bridge remains unchanged
